Good day
I have a problem and I wonder if someone can help me out. I have a MB800V-R Pentium 4 intel 845G/GE industrial motherboard, it only has ide ports and I purchased a pci to sata card. I need to install windows 2000 or xp on this pc. When I try to install windows on it, Windows does not see the hard drive and it exits the setup.
I tried installing windows xp,7,8.1 and 2000 on another pc and placing that hard drive in the Mb800 pc and it gives a blue screen just after the windows logo. Can anyone help me out?

Is the hard drive you installing to on the SATA Card. ?

If it is you probably need to load a driver from diskette via the F6 function during the OS install.

He probably has to slipstream the SATA Card drivers into his install or have the driver on a diskette which he would load with F6 key during setup.

Meaning he has successfully installed windows and the HD is able to function just before he enters windows.

Looks like we are approaching the issue from different directions.

I am referring to the attempt to install on the actual machine whereas you are referring to the OS installation transferred from the other machine. :)

Either way, it appears he is attempting to run the hard drive from the add-on SATA card and the OS has no drivers for that card.

Seeing as the OP has made no posts after 5pm he has probably gone home for the day :)

The hard drive is installed on the sata card.
I played around in the bios settings to see if I could get something working but with no luck.
I will try to install a driver from the 3.5" drive. I will keep everyone updated soon.

So you did in fact change the bios mode to IDE?

I did.
I could not get hold of a stiffy drive. I tried to install windows and use a sata to usb converter for the hard drive , it got to the setup screen on xp and blue screen with different errors each time. I am going to try windows 7 now.

That PC is in need of an upgrade, R3000 will get you a dual core, 4GB DDR3 RAM and a motherbord.

It's probably used in some kind of industrial process control environment that has old ports/slots/expansion hardware with software to boot that won't work on new hardware.

I can not get a new machine because its additional cost to the customer and this motherboard is new , just was not used before. It is used for a dylog x-ray machine.
I did not get a chance to try windows 7.

Can you not get the drivers for your sata card on the internet burn it to a CD then install it when it asks to be installed (USB to install XP)?

Also, are you 100% sure you are using a Windows XP SP3 install disc, because SP3 does include SATA drivers.

How to bypass the stiffy drive issue :-

What I suggest is find an old IDE drive that is big enough to handle the XP install.

Install the OS with the PCI SATA Card in the machine.

If the install is sucessful, install all the missing drivers including the PCI SATA Card drivers.

Then attach the desired SATA drive to the card and clone the IDE installation over to the SATA drive.

You can use EaseUS to Clone the drives http://www.easeus.com/backup-software/
(I have used this sucessfully in moving an IDE Win7 install to a SATA Drive without hassles)


Remove the IDE drive and you should be good to go.
