...would you like to be fired from a management job because you are rumoured to have an extra-marital affair?
How does that impair your decision making?

It can and does happen. More to the point though, public figures have chosen that life and hence must live with the consequences of such. Cases like this show how public figures want all the perks that come with the lifestyle they chose but none of the drawbacks. That really is too bad for them.

If a person has shown poor judgment in their personal life, then it is fair to expect that they will show equally poor judgment in their professional life.

What I find incredulous is that a week or two ago there was a report that information such as this was going to be released as there were some in the ANC who felt that he was garnering too much support and that this would affect Zuma detrimentally and lo and behold....here it is.

And now they are there, rushing in defence of his honour.

Politics and politicians. The scum of the earth.

I think the biggest question is would the general public still vote for him to be in office.

When does the public ever get a say in this matter? The electoral system we have does not allow for the view of the man on the street on who gets to be president.

Yes, you are correct. We vote for a party, and the party chooses the candidate. How many people, because they do not like the candidate, would change their vote to another party?

Some will or do.

The trouble is that person in position 12 might be pretty good, and trying to 'vote' for them means you get the first 11 idiots.

I don't really get what the ANC is complaining about. It's a high-profile position - and any high profile person is going to get his life, both proffesional and private, put under intense scrutiny.

It's news. It sells. That's what tabloids and the like live on, and to a slightly lesser degree the bigger rags. It happens everywhere, not just in SA. Only draconian cencorship laws will stop it from happening - so maybe one day when China takes over Africa we'll see it stopping.
