has anybody heard of insurance where they have the "return to invoice clause" included in their policy?

Return to invoice clause would payout whatever value is on your sales invoice if the vehicle is written off or stolen in a specified time period after the purchase of a vehicle.

In South Africa, we generally do not have this clause but we have something similar. If your new vehicle is written off or stolen in the first year after purchase, almost all insurers have a clause that they will pay out the new purchase price of the vehicle, and not the retail/market/trade value.

That sounds like a bad idea if you get a discount and paid less than the list price.
