I'm glad this guy won the case against outsurance....but..

Are the outsurance bonus pay outs quite large? I ask because this the guy drives an R8 which from what I know, are not cheap. so I'm guessing if the guy can afford the R8, does he really need the out bonus?

I'm assuming he has low premiums since he didn't claim previously and maybe over a certain age and probably insures his vehicles with the house and everything...

Its something along the lines of if you buying a high performance car and asking about the petrol costs then you probably cannot afford the car.

Just got my 2nd Outbonus.

1st was R1600/R1700 - can't remember exact amount, my premium was between R1000 and R1650 for 3 years. I got it in July 2013
2nd was R1950 - My premium was between R800 for 1 year and R1900 for the next (Bought a new car and put other stuff on the policy). I got it this month.

The Outbonus is not worth it, in my humble opinion. I'm paying far R500/R600 less on a car worth double through M&F with a broker.

At 1st August, I'll no longer be an Outsurance customer.

It doesn't matter what he can or can't afford, they sold him a service in a certain way and he is entitled to everything that it entails, same as the guy who can barely afford a golf (no offence to any golf drivers). His income should be irrelevant. Also, R20k excess- ouch!

I'm glad he won the court case. Insurance companies in general are quick to take your money, but not so eager to help come the time to claim. Bunch of thieving sharks, same as the banks. The other thing that also royally p*sses me off is annual premium increases. My car will be worth less tomorrow than what it was yesterday, so why should I pay more tomorrow than I did yesterday?

That's why my stuff are with momentum, Life, car, house, medical, etc... Screw OUTsurance. They quoted me on my car and put a R37 000 excess...

Had the outsurance fight with my gf's brother, someone bumper bashed him and he refused to claim because he didn't want to pay the excess and was 3 months from his outbonus. Said he will pay cash for the repair, guess who still has a smashed bumper on his beautiful 320d...

Really irritates me when people don't claim. I had insurance on my car for a grand total of 2 weeks before my windscreen and bonnet got hit by a stone, still claimed. It's why you have insurance in the first place!

Agreed. You are paying for it, after all.
