This one has motoblur and is a moto leak rather than a custom rom. I can guide you through the process if you'd like, its pretty straight forward.

So you think that Moto will give us a official upgrade on our Defy's to 2.3??????

Well... couple interesting things.
1. there are 2 versions of the Defy, one with a green camera lens, other with green - these leaked roms only work on green lens Defys.
2. after flashing to this rom, my phone is recognised as a MB526.... ;)
3. the stock speed of the processor is 800mhz, on this rom its 1000ghz.

So, I dunno - maybe the intention is to release a new Defy with gingerbread? or maybe someone just mistyped MB525? all i know is mine is running sweeeet ;)

Been meaning to load that ROM, I'm still on PAYS 2.2.1, runs like a dream when overclocked to 1GHz.

Just out of interest. Does overclocking shorten your battery and CPU life?

Just out of interest. Does overclocking shorten your battery and CPU life? Translation by ImTranslator provides the most convenient access to the online translation services powered by Google and other machine translation engines for over 50 foreign languages. This translation tool includes online translator, translation dictionary, text-to-speech in a variety of languages, multilingual virtual keyboard, spell checker, Russian decoder, back translation, and email service.
Free Online Translation
ImTranslator Translation service is intended to provide an instant translation of words, phrases and texts in many languages
Whenever you need a translation tool to communicate with friends, relatives or business partners, travel abroad, or learn languages, our ImTranslator is always here to assist you.
Wpisz w poniższym formularzu tekst do tłumaczenia a następnie wybierz język źródłowy i docelowy.

Aby skopiować tekst z dowolnej aplikacji, zaznacz tekst i prawym przyciskiem wybierz polecenie "Kopiuj", a następnie wskaż kursorem pole tekstowe Translatora i w podobny sposób wybierz polecenie "Wklej". Zamiast wybierania poleceń z menu kontekstowego, możesz wykorzystać skróty klawiszowe Translator oferuje dwa warianty tłumaczenia dostępne w zakładkach "tłumacz elektroniczny" i "tłumacz ". W domyślnie ustawionej zakładce "tłumacz elektroniczny" tekst zostanie przetłumaczony maszynowo w oparciu o wybrany słownik internetowy. Jeśli translatory i słowniki nie spełniają Twoich oczekiwań, wybierz zakładkę tłumacz. Translator obliczy liczbę znaków w tekście i poda najbliższe terminy wykonania profesjonalnego tłumaczenia przez Centrum Tłumaczeń

Well you can adjust the voltage too, so the battery issue can be minimized. As for the CPU life, that will depend on your usage I guess.

There is a way to resolve the performance issues after the Froyo update:

https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/52295

DEFY™ with MOTOBLUR™ on Android 2.2 — Hard reset instructions (Recommended after upgrade)
After you upgrade your DEFY™ with MOTOBLUR™ to Android 2.2 you may experience slight to moderate performance issues with some applications. The best way to 'fix' these issues is to perform a "hard" reset from the recovery menu. These instructions are different than they are with Android 2.1.

Power DEFY™ off.
Wait 15 seconds.
Press and hold POWER/LOCK key and VOLUME DOWN key.
Continue to press and hold POWER/LOCK and VOLUME DOWN until a screen appears with a "!" inside a triangle and a small Android standing in front of it on a black background.
Once the "!"-Triangle screen appears, press both VOLUME DOWN and UP keys at the same time. This can be achieved by pressing the center of the VOLUME rocker.
Once the recovery menu appears (text is blue) use the VOLUME DOWN key to navigate to "wipe data/factory reset".
Select "wipe data/factory reset" with POWER/LOCK key.
Navigate with VOLUME DOWN key to "Yes -- delete all user data"
During this process you will notice the phone format the system memory and cache. This is normal.
After the factory reset has completed, select "reboot system now" with the POWER/LOCK key.
Please allow 3-10 minutes for system to recover. A long pause on the stylised "M" logo or the carrier animation is normal. DO NOT power the phone off during this period.
(MOTOBLUR™ devices only) Once the DEFY™ has booted, you will be greeted with the MOTOBLUR™ login page.

You should now be up and running! You will have to log back in to your Google account and any other accounts that are not associated with your MOTOBLUR™ account.

If you have any issues with this procedure on Android 2.2 please let us know and it will be updated as needed.

Same here. I am now on day 2 on one charge and battery is now on 50%. Was listing to the radio on it the whole day yesterday and have been listening again from this morning. Seems to be a huge increase in my battery since doing the calibration thingy majiggy. The battery is even better now compared as to when I first got the phone.

Finally got the update over the weekend, 3g hotspot now works without issues, and also major improvement in Bluetooth, now dont have to always connect when to car system. Think I will lay off the hard reset for now, but must thank ocleroux for heads up on contacts, saved in three versions. (contacts also disappeared had to back up) Now all im missing is Google maps with navigation, used Garmin mobile trial not bad.

When I connect my phone and start thesoftware updater it says "There is no software update currently available for your mobile device. Please check back for new releases." Anyone else had this and got round it?
