Please can someone advise me?

So sick and tired of waiting for ICS to come to this device - its bloody pathetic
I now want to root and need some advice.
Do you recommend it?\
What then happens to Android market or "play" now?

How do you load new apps?

Thanks guys

/you should have gone with the asus we've been having it for ages :p

Being rooted does not affect the app market. Not that I know much about the xoom...

I run a custom rom on 1 of my phones and stock on both my other phone and tablet.

Custom roms are to much of a effort for me, ever so often there is a newer version available and you have to backup and flash again to update.. I like to get updated OTA. Not sure if you will get updates on your custom rom.

ICS isn't all that much different from honeycomb on the front end, when did they say you'll get it?

Motoroloa's Official stance on ICS updates:

If ICS won't make our device better, we won't update to it

Here is the schedule anyway:

Have a nice day and enjoy da root. :)

I rooted my Sensation in October last year... Bricked it :(

I had it repaired, and now I stay away from rooting. For every update on a rooted device, you have to download and flash. It's a mission. I instead downloaded the official ICS ROM for my Sensation and did an official upgrade, and still get the OTA updates...

No need to root in IMO unless you specifically need administrative access to typically locked Android system folders / files...

I followed the instructions took 30 minutes as I didn't know what I was doing, well worth it.
I am sick and tired of waiting for them to release it. Technology is changing at a rapid rate and as a company you either adapt or lose customers.
Last time I ever buy anything Motorola branded.
How long do they need to test? The bloody thing has been out for months.
No other way to load ics on it but to root.

You dont have to update if your current ROM is working, and even then some roms like MIUI you can flash full updates without backup's or they even get OTA updates that don't need you to constantly back-up and restore anything.

Edit: Oh and there is nothing wrong with staying on stock either, no one is forcing you. Some of us just see it as fun.
