The stupid "outrage" in this thread. There are many white farmers that support the idea of helping black farmers, some even donating parts of their farms to the cause. And if this works, you my white little suburban friend, stand to benefit.

The last thing South Africa needs is more racist policies.

Farmer support yes, racism no.

Last thing South Africa needs is famine and more unemployment.

And this isn't racist, that word has lost all meaning. It is race based. If it was "racist" then it would've negatively affected the white farmers. Here white farmers are not getting something they never had.

I'm not saying it's right but I am saying that this is nothing to get worked up about. BEE is something to get worked up about.

How is this better than BEE?

If anything, white farmers are worse off than white business people. White farmers are under far more pressure than any other sort of business owner.

I'm tired of pretending that race based isn't racist. Apartheid was racist - they would have called it race based but the reality is that it was racist. Changing who is dominant doesn't make it any less racist.

There is plenty viable commercial farming land in the Ingonyama trust. The problem is the tenants cannot access finance because they don't own the land. They don't own the land because the "king" owns it. The king won't let the government, which gave them the land, redistribute it to those who live on it and can make a living off it, because the royal family would lose its income and all of its power. BTW there is 3000 square meters of land in the trust for every single man, woman and child that lives in KZN, regardless of who they are.
When was the last time you had a look at that land ?
Try a trip to Greytown and then down through the Tugela Valley to Dundee
or
Even better -- from Greytown to Kranskop then on the Zuma highway to Eshowe
or
Via the Tugfela valley and Melmoth to ULUNDI

There are a number of variations
The land of the Ingonyama Trust IS ALL of the old KwaZulu HOMELAND
The land of GOATS and EROSION !

and?
Not every white farmer has access to financing.
IT is still racist. It they want to help farmers they should help farmers.

It is racist no matter how you turn it.
No amount of lipstick on a pig will change the fact that it is a pig.

Help our farmers. Thousands need help not just black farmers.
You might also check something I quoted in post #10. I'm not arguing the merits of the funding but purely pointing out there's more to the announcement. I'd love to see more info on this; if the farming community agree with it or not. In other words, what farmer organisations have to say.

What I find funny is that they think the criminals will only target white farmers lol..

When a Black farmer has a nice home with money and appliances on his isolated farm he's going to be just a big a target as the white farmer was.

Not to mention how many of those billions your average Black farmer Joe is going to see - the middlemen in government will scoop most of it up FAST.

They will steal from a black farmer but they won't use a blowtorch on him to torture him.

I think people are missing the point that Motsepe is a billionaire businessman. He will not be giving money away, but rather will be looking to make money.

Thus he thinks there is a viable business case to make money, and that will only happen if this farming venture is successful.

Face it, black people have been marginalised in farming since the beginning. I really don't see a problem with a business venture to alleviate this.

and here we thought 94 would be the end of a racist government.

I don't mind being a second-rate citizen if I can pay a second-rate tax.

You don't exactly know how hard it is to make a farm profitable, you need to be a first-rate capitalist to make it work and even then your working your ass off. The easiest way to get a black person in this country to become a capitalist is to make him own a farm.

No I do not know. Nor did I claim to know. However, I imagine Motsepe does know and has factored it into his business model.

Not sure what you mean by your last sentence.

Thugs don't care. They'll torture if they believe you're hoarding large amounts of money and guns.

White farmers get tortured whether or not they give everything up, because the objective is to terrorise and inflict pain.

Farming makes you a capitalist because that is the only way they work, you need to be a gifted businessperson to run them.

I have often heard people say that when black people get rich, that they don't help their fellow blacks.
And here is a guy trying to do just that.

I would this guy would be better served by investing in farmers who have a track record of success (regardless of race) and getting them to employ more people, but who are we kidding that would not fit the narrative now would it.

I very much question the way how he got rich! In case you did not know: He is part of the Ramaphosa familly. Eitherway, I am happy to see they decided to give back some of the money :D However, I am not happy with their racial profiling.
