Thanks a lot, gives me a good feel for what is possible. I assume this holds true when ceiling mounted? Wall mounting the AP AC Lite's probably affects the signal?

Apparently it marginally affects the signal- you would need to download the spec sheets from ubnt and check the Azimuth's. In my experience, the performance degradation is marginal.

Ok so I redrew your entire home using the tool and specified all walls as brick - the device placement is prob overkill but I would go with an add as you need approach.

And some real life pics (how the client's wanted them mounted):

Thanks, very neat behind the curtain. Would you suggest an ER-X-SFP to do the PPPoE and PoE to the Unfi's?
For PPPoE, shouldn't be a problem.

For PoE, I don't recommend. :)

A reason is that ER-X-SFP do not support 802.2af/at standard as required by AC-PRO unit, but a passive 24V. It will power up AC-LITE and AC-LR in passive 24V mode, but these AP's come with PoE injectors. In other words ER-X fits better.

Careful planning is required for chosing the right PoE source. By example AC-LITE/LR AP's do not fully comply with 802.2af standard. In active mode they only work with Alternative Mode A pinout.

Thanks all, I'm probably going to settle on using the AC-Lites predominately, with the odd powerline unit for the hard to reach spots. I combination of tech will probably work best, one-size fits-all seems problematic.

Save up get the UAP AC PROs instead, why settle for lite.

I seriously think the lite’s are underrated...
1 device pretty much covers our entire unit 120m2 (upstairs and downstairs). It’s positioned centrally by the stairs and works brilliantly.

Makes more sense for me to spread a few Lite's around.

Based on what, extra cables, extra POE, additional switch.

The 2 Eth Ports on the PRO alone makes it my go to not mention 3x3 instead of 2x2 that said If you have only 2x2 MIMO devices (consumer products like iPad, Surface, Chromecast, ...) there are no benefit from the AP AC Pro.

What I like about the AP PRO which I normaly do in a home is use the 5Gz to uplink the one to the other since the lite is 20 dBm where the Pro has 22 dBm which comes in handy.

That said, thick walls etc consider the LR over the lite maybe?

The pro isn't worth the extra 1k IMHO.

There is no need for cabling if you use the UAP-AC-M units.
Use one where you have Inet coming in. Further each following unit will Mesh via WIFI.
Only power required at each unit.
Might need a CloudKey to make it all work if you do not have a pc running for management.

You can also use an ap ac lite as your first "hop" on the mesh (ie, the wired one). Saves a few bucks?

I am not sure if you can use a "lite" unit as the first hop. Please check the UBNT website for those specifics.
