Let’s not forget the fast and the furious
The series got better. They leaned into the silly action and made something that kinda deviated from the first two movies but filled a gap in the silly action genre and they clearly had fun doing it.

Indiana Jones
The Mummy
Pirates of the Caribbean
Transformers
Dumb and dummer
Home alone (only got to 3 I think but it was terrible)
Superman IV
Just about any of the horror thriller stuff apparently (not my genre)
Highlander
etc.

Are you naming all the movies that got worse? Some of those weren't even good at no 1.

Mad Max: Fury Road is fantastic.

Different question: how many film series' with 4 or more movies were genuinely good initially and got terrible with the latter ones?

So so many

Die Hard/Lethal Weapon
Terminator
Alien
Any franchise starring Sylvester Stallone
Indiana Jones
Karate Kid
Bourne
Jurassic Park
Predator
The Dirty Dozen and the Magnificent Seven (bet you didn't know that)
Silence of the Lambs
Jaws
Men in Black
A ton of Disney and other animated movies - Lion King, Lilo and Stitch, Ice Age, Madagascar, etc

Murder Mystery (2019) - 7/10

Probably rated higher than I normally would, but it appealed to my mood when I watched it.

A good, light comedy with Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston. Don't overthink it, or you won't enjoy it.

Side note 1 : My wife was obsessed with how weird Jennifer looked in this movie. Plastic surgery or old age?

Side note 2 : I dunno why, but I have a liking for Gemma Aterton. In a dirty kind of way only

No amount of plastic can hide age unfortunately. Watching Nicole Kidman in Big Little Lies she really looks awful. Face has been pulled to hell and back.

Fantastic? It wasn't even a Mad Max movie. Mad Max was a background actor, in Fury Road. The whole story revolved around Charlene, pft.

There are detractors but it was still highly rated and a lot of people loved it.

Another good 4th entry - War for the Planet of the Apes

Eyes Wide Shut (1999) 8.5/10

Wow, what a thinker (film). So much depth & substance. So much elements & hidden meanings/messages. Deeply impressive work from Stanley Kubrick.

I tried to watch one of the Fast and Furious movies on a plane once when the movie selection was particularly uninspiring. Maybe about number 6 or something. Some dude at an ATM throwing money about iirc.

It was a long distance flight and I think I’d give a higher mark to watching the blank screen for an hour and a half after I switched it off after 5 minutes.

Have you heard about the Morgans - 6/10
The wife wanted to watch it. Went in with extremely low expectations thinking it would be a 4/10, instead was somewhat surprised to find it fairly watchable. Never really been a fan of SJ Parker, generally enjoy Hugh Grant, they actually work fairly well together. Characters where somewhat one dimensional but overall I rate it somewhat entertaining.
