The Dead Don't Die (2019) 5.5/10

Mediocre Zombie horror comedy. Slow & predictable. Waste of a good cast.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019) 6.5/10

Not as bad as the media made it out to be. The story was on the lazy part & I felt more characters & character development was needed. Action scenes were good though & Hans Zimmer’s score was tops.

^ not sure, the IMDB comments seemed to rank it alongside The Hottie & the Nottie and Battlefield Earth.

It's in my Quarantined folder together with Independence Day: Resurgence and Speed 2: Cruise Control.

I dunno, those imdb comments can get real toxic.

I'll give it about a 6 for the same reasons. Zimmer never disappoints and Sansa had some good scenes.

A little better than Apocalypse.

Creed 2: 8.5/10 - Stallone recycles what made Rocky a hit and it just works. Even my boxing hating gf sat there glued.

The Last Samurai (2003) 7.5/10

A beautiful, moving watch. Great narrative, combat scenes & Hans Zimmer score. TC is excellent.

American Factory (2019)

In post-industrial Ohio, a Chinese billionaire opens a new factory in the husk of an abandoned General Motors plant, hiring two thousand blue-collar Americans. Early days of hope and optimism give way to setbacks as high-tech China clashes with working-class America.
A worthwhile watch. Even if just to see how unions in USA and China "compare" to SA. But it is an eye opener on how the Chinese work and how the American culture is so different.

Platoon (1986) 8/10

Brutal, honest anti-war film. Stellar screenplay & directing, top notch cinematography & battle scenes and an excellent ensemble cast.

Was good back in the 80's. Watched it again the other day and it's amazing how its lost it's sparkle.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - 8/10. My second favourite Charlie Kaufman film after Being John Malkovich.

Dark Phoenix (2019)

Entertaining action but predictable and somewhat bland plot. Didn't expect much and it didn't disappoint there. The series needs to die or be rebooted. 5/10

Hellboy (2019)

Tortured myself on a flight with this one. The entire film was cut by a blind person, jumping from scene to scene, even during the subpar action. Hellboy himself was the only highlight. 4/10.

Deadpool 2 - 8/10
Really annoyed that they chose to kill off his girlfriend but then he brought her back so that was good. The humour was great throughout and just got better towards the end. Finally seeing a decent Juggernaut was good surprise. Cable was badass, interesting to see where they go from here.

I was a little miffed (but laughed nontheless) that they gave Green Lantern the middle finger in the credits scene :) as GL is one of my favourite characters. Sure it wasn't the best movie but it wasn't that bad. Ah well they are rebooting it so hopefully they do the character justice.
