Nextgen (2018) - 7/10

Animated film, I never heard of before. Based on the future of sorts with robots integrated everywhere. Watched with my kids last night. Was entertaining enough, maybe targeted a bit towards girls. Reminded me of big hero 6 a bit, just not as good.

Had some absolutely hilarious scenes that got us all cackling, hence the score.

Voices by Constance Wu, John Krasinsku and Micheal Pena amongst others

The Kitchen (2019) 5/10

Bad. Convoluted plot. Drawn out. Poor casting also.

The Art of Self-Defense (2019) - 7/10

Starring Jesse Eisenberg, Imagen Poots and Alessandro Nivola

But of a dark comedy thing going on here, a bit slow paced, with intermittent moments of violence, building up to the almost predictable conclusion. Enjoyed the ride, though.

Would recommend

The Art of Racing in the Rain 7.5 / 10

Right up there with all the other sad dog movies. Very well done. If you want your SO chunking this is it.

Everything Is Wonderful (2018)

The acting is on par with a porn movie. Almost zero story. It is not funny. 2/10

Joker (2019) 8.5/10

Truly fantastic origin story. Narrative & character development is extraordinary. Joaquin Phoenix was a sight to behold, he is just phenomenal.

The girl from nowhere (2017) (South Africa) 6 maybe 7/10

A girl walking down a long lonely road, a couple driving to the middle of nowhere. We have been told many times in South Africa not to pick up strangers hitch hiking and in this case is probably the right attitude.
But when the stranger is a younger, attractive girl in daisy dukes your brain turns off. It's an interesting movie, filmed on a shoe string budget, acting can be great and it can be bad. Though the 3 actors did the best they could with the script which is a bit odd podge.
The location is amazing, the filmmaker knows how to shoot that and also how to work with limited lighting, but overall it's a bit oddly paced and the dips in the acting get to you, one moment it's good the next it's what??
