Don't Make Me Go (2022) 6.5/10

Adventure comedy with some depth & heart, the curve ball at the end is slightly off-putting.

The Black Phone was awesome.

Battlefield Earth, I couldn't finish it. Johan Travolta is lucky I can't recognize him or that Bad Boys II actor.

Some of the family stuff we watched this holiday:
Raya and the last dragon 8/10
The most enjoyable of all the movies we watched by far. Still a kids movie so lots of immature elements but good despite that.

Clifford the big red dog - 6/10
Maybe dog people will like this one. I can't say I did.

Cruella - 7.5/10
Very well done. Visually great, not exactly a deep script but better honestly than the 101 Dalmatian movies for me.

Lightyear - 5/10 (saw on big screen)
Surprised this was pixar. Story was sub-par and full of plot holes. Characters where often irritating more than endearing.

Minions - Rise of Gru - 6/10 (saw on big screen)
About what you expect. I laughed a fair bit, my kids more so. Was a fun watch.

Fantastic beasts crimes of Grindelwald - 7/10
Was decent, if not as good as the first one.

Fantastic beasts - secrets of Dumbledore - 6/10
Seems to be going downhill. Still a decent movie but the recast of Depp was a bit jarring, and the characters and the story direction some of them took just made less and less sense. Radamayne is still incredible as the main character but otherwise a bit of a let down. They should have closed off the story with this one and instead left a lot of the story to finish off.

I saw The Man from Toronto, one more action-comedy in Netflix's more than average catalog.

The Black Phone - 7.5/10. Masterful film that serves as an allegory of child trauma and fear, similar to Let the Right one In.

Ryan Gosling’s first film in 4 years dropped on the ‘Flix & high seas. Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo.
Top notch cast incl Ana de Armas.:love:

It's on Netflix. No need to set sail on a voyage of discovery.

This was actually really good. We took our kids to watch it (only in 3D and they complained about sore eyes afterwards), but all 4 of us had a good laugh.
Proof you don't need any woke elements to have a good time and a good laugh.

True...seems like we only have it for our kids because there's nothing to watch on it. Well, 1 or 2 series and now The Grey Man!
It's on Netflix. No need to set sail on a voyage of discovery.

I am sort of in the same boat as you. I have Netflix for the kids. I myself have not watched or accessed Netflix once the past 3 years.

But, I do grab some series and movies from the seas for my own personal collection when I one day get the chance to watch them.

I think Battlefield Earth is rated one of the worst, if not the worst, movie ever made.
It entirely depends on the era, which rating, IMDb, rotten ect. Battlefield earth is only 10th on the list of bottom 100 on IMDb, on rotten they have several movies rated ZERO, but they have Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever as the number one worst movie, battlefield earth has a 3% rating and a audience score of 12% so fairs better than the top 100 worst movies rated on rotten.

But then again, ratings are entirely subjective. It is each to their own, with regards to what they enjoy watching. I am not going to argue with someone that says the matrix is a bad film, that person might have enjoyed the starwars films, which I hated as an example. I dislike a fair number of starwars movies, the newer ones without george lucas to me are better, there might be someone that dislikes scifi movies altogether.

I don't deny battlefield earth is a bad movie, has lots of faults, but it still has some entertainment value, it isn't unwatchable.

7/10 It's not original, but it's great fun.

For sure...but with that cast they should have translated the book onto the big screen much better!
The only way to really do that book justice is to make multiple movies, it's too long for a single film. A trilogy would be about right, otherwise a series may be a better option. Same issue with Dune which is why I'm so happy they're doing it in instalments.
