Movie Mini-Review Thread - Part III

Star Wars Despecialized Edition (1977) - 7/10. First time since being a kid I actually watched this.

Spirited Away(2001) - 8/10

One Cut of the Dead (2017) - 7/10. Japanese film. This was not what I expected it to be. Was expecting some cheap zombie flick but was surprised how it turned it in the end. Apparently had a $25 000 budget and it shows.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024) 7/10

Highly recommended that you have watched the OG fairly recently, in my case about 2 years & still fresh. This sequel has lots of fan service & stays true to the OG, it will appeal to the fans. Some elements could have been better than but overall a delightful watch with lots to absorb. Same as last time Michael Keaton, even with the limited screen time, steals the show. High on nostalgia.

Each to their own I suppose. The wife, kids and I enjoyed this immensely. I have watched this a few times already.

Then I doubt I'll ever watch another Reynolds movie - his sarcasm schtick is tiresome but it works in Deadpool.
I'd actually really like to see him try something serious, or dark. Jim Carrey took a great turn for the serious. Reynolds is different but it would be nice to see him not be Ryan Reynolds in a movie for once.

I'm sure he'll make appearances as Deadpool in other movies but not with him as the lead. Maybe at a later stage when they shove a whole bunch of money in his face and his fatigue as worn off.

He was fine in The Nines (old movie, recall liking it at the time).
