Day of the Dog (2021) - 9/10. Feel like this one needs a rewatch but it’s undoubtedly a great film.

Clint Eastwood's latest just dropped. Goes without saying this will be one to invest in.

Watched it last night via hbo. Was ok, not great.. it's a journey movie/walking simulator about what happens during traveling from point a to point b. In that it was rather meh. As for Clint Eastwood he barely acted but I guess what else if you are already over 90.

BAC Nord (The Stronghold on Netflix) (2020) 7/10

French movie based on the true story of some cops attempting to police the drug trade in a low income neighbourhood (ghetto basically). Nothing groundbreaking but solid performances and some decent writing give it more heft than expected.

Cry Macho (2021) 7/10

Good Western Drama, enjoyable story telling if a somewhat slow burner. Mad respect for Clint Eastwood Directing, Producing & Staring at age 90/91.

And here we complain about being 30 or 40. It did make me look up '90 year old actors'. Even the actress who played murder she wrote still works.

Another truffle / pig movie on DStv Box Office, in the same month, this one's even a cinema premiere...

Just called "Pig"
About a truffle farmer having his pig kidnapped and his desperate reaction.
Add to that - starring Nicolas Cage... again

Main comment from imdb.com;
What a wonderful film.
This is a film about loss and grief on many levels. In fact each of the main characters are hurting big time in one way or another and they are all drawn together because of a (totally gorgeous) pig. Whilst only being on screen for such a short time the pig causes events in peoples lives that are monumental. This is such a clever story, beautifully filmed, edited, scored, directed and acted by everyone.

What on earth is going on, how is this a top movie??

The Power of the Dog (2021) - 8/10. Slow as molasses but rich with subtext and themes. Will likely garner oscar wins for Cumberbatch and cinematography.

Candyman (2021) 5.5/10
Above average horror.

Together (2021) 5 / 10
The talking to the camera irritated me as well as the Government lecture.

The Card Counter (2021) 6.5/10

Bit of usual crime drama almost like it has 2 distinct personalities/approaches. Good buildup & Oscar Isaac is great & very convincing.

It's bad bad?
It just has so much going on. As if it cannot decide whether it is a Mad Max movie or a Tarantino movie or something else. Nicolas Cage is somehow the right man for the job though believe it or not. Big budget and even stylish at times, but highly unmemorable with some terrible acting.

The Suicide Squad (2021) - -6/10

I'm halfway through.

Trying to think when last I was more bored in a movie. This movie is thoroughly ****, it's hard to believe anyone read this script and thought it was a good idea to make this into a movie starring actual actors.
