Let me tell a little story about Telkom and moving ADSL.

Beginning of October I callled Telkom to let them know that i am moving to a new place AT THE END of October (31st Oct). They told me i should fax them with all the necesary information so i did. I included the current address, the place im moving to the fact that i want the line moved ONLY AT THE END of october. To be sure, i called them a week later, jsut to hear what the story is and if everything is ok.

The friendly girl at Telkom ordering told me that the request has been sent and provides me with a reference number. Today i decided (9 oct) to give them a call to check the progresss and to make sure that they know the line should be moved AT THE END of october (31st oct). Lo and behold, i got home and my ADSL is down. Slowly the fear krept up on me...

I call the fault department, they say that my port has been disconnected. I need to call the ordering department. So i do that and at the fault department they say that the port "is fine" and that i should tell fault department that "the port is fine and working". So i do that (call fault, wait on hold for min everytime) and the fault department dude tells me that i should call ordering department and tell them that the port is on reserved status and it should be on active then only can fault sort it for me... i am speechless.... (couldnt call ordering cause they close at 4:45).

Summary:
- they did not move my port yet
- they have taken my current port away and reseved it for someone else
- i cant get anything done today because everyone is home
- i got nothing!

Any advice what i can do? If no advice, feel free to laugh at my misfortune and add your support to my cause :)

What i dont understand here is why did the departments make u relay information between them. Surely as a paying customer you shudnt be their bitch?? Im not sure wot you can do as this is Telkom you are talking about. But i tink the first thing Telkom shud do is get an understandin of how to deal with customers properly. They are a disgrace!!

Well, what happend is the guy offered to transfer me but then i spend 30 min waiting for someone to answer (1 whole cowboy bebop episode). So i hang up and call that department and BAM someone answers! Anyway, im currently trying to continue the search for someone who can switch my port back on, been holding for 30 min now! GJ TelkoM!

The problem isnt getting a port. Currently they have 2 ports reserved for me (typical). But theyve switched my current port to reserved AND reserved me another port at the new exchange! GDAMMIT! Just spoke to someone and again they said that its working fine, so i explained in so many words that they need to send out a technition RIGHT NOW to switch my port back on. And in the same breath i told them to keep in mind that i still want to move the adsl at the end of the month. So, what do you think is gonna happen?...

Scenario nr 1:
I will be charged for not one, but two adsl installs at the end of the month (IDIOTS).

Scenarion nr 2:
"Im sorry sir, the line transfer has been cancelled. we thought you cancelled the transfer?" - me = speechless!

So yeah, lets see if things work out. heres hoping but not holding my breath!

Hahaha. Why not? You have paid for that port MANY times over with your "adsl line rental" !!
