You get Route 66 Navigation free with the Galaxy S2.

It has a nice boere-meisie voice and doesn't use internet data.

I agree. This works very well. It has never failed me and I find it more reliable that Google Maps (even through I still sometimes double check destinations using Google maps as well.)

First thing I'm doing now is just sharing my cellC internet with Connectify over an ad-hoc network. My iphone pics up the wifi and connects but the Samsung doesn't see my ad-hoc network. It sees my neighbours wifi though...

I now found a website that says Android doesn't support ad-hoc networking by default. Have to root to get it to work. Interesting.

This was done because of security concerns regarding Ad-hoc networks. In ICS the option in build into the OS because of user demand.

The lady at the vodashop told me the first battery charge should be 16 hours - is this true? I thought with the current battery technology that's not neccessary anymore?

From what I know about Li-Ion is that you just charge till full, esp with today's technology where the chargers is controlled electronically so if you leave it in after the phone is charged it automatically turns off the charging function.

Personally I just let it go to 100% and then unplug, and play.

Yes, I do not understand why the cell phone shops keep telling people to first overcharge their new phone and then to let it completely run flat again. Li-Ion batteries hates both these activities, especially being run completely flat, which can cause the battery to collapse, making it impossible to charge again. I can only assume they are either ignorant on how Li-Ion batteries work, or they want to sell more of them.

I think it's more a matter of being uneducated and people holding on to things that applied to cellphones 10 years ago. I get the same rhyme every time I get a new phone. I usually just nod my head and say ok, wouldn't help to try and correct them. Cellphone providers need to educate their staff better.

Go have dinner at some friends house that have uncapped Adsl+Wifi. In this day and age I am sure you know at least one person that has it. Better yet get a WiFi router at home if you have adsl, you wont regret it.

Haha okay will do. I am waiting on my ADSL installation at home though, just a matter of time.

Supposed to be 8GB, but that's Vodacom pulling a cheapskate on us.

I think they take out the 8GB cards, then sell them in the Vodashops and put their old 1GB cards in the phones.

No other explanation I could think of, cos the Galaxy S2 specs say there's an included 8GB SD card.

*I took my 1GB card out and slapped in a 32GB SD card. Yum yum. :)

Yeah probably going to invest in one as well. But there is a difference between a 1GB and 8GB, vodacom. Tsk tsk.

Glad to see I'm not the only one that got screwed over by Vodacom, lucky I had a 32GB card to put in from my previous phone

Something interesting that has happened. (Sorry if there has been threads about this before but I didn't search the forum at all)

People have been complaining that they hear themselves echo when they phone me. I tested it myself today and it is in fact the case. Fortunately as I was driving home tonight I thought that maybe the cover I bought with the phone is the issue. Tested it just now by calling someone and testing with and without the cover and amazingly the cover is indeed the problem.

Just a quick google search turns up many results for this issue.

I will be returning the phone cover tomorrow or so and see what they tell me. I bought the most expensive one in the shop (and ugliest) because it seemed to offer the best protection (it's a BodyGlove cover). Will also hear what they have to say about replacing the 8GB card with a 1GB card.

It probibly covers the noise canceling mic. Just make a hole in that section if they don't wanna swap it out.
