So telkom are forcing me to move from my 20mbs uncapped adsl line to an uncapped fixed LTE service as there is a fault on line and they arent replacing copper cables for dsl.

Telkoms coverage in my area doesnt appear to be great as i get slow Download and upload speeds with telkom mobile which concerns me.

What speeds can i expect if i do move to Telkom lte and will it be viable for online gaming like cod for example?

Any feedback would be much appreciated

you need to find out if there is a telkom tower there by you. It seems certain routers are faster, with the frequencies. Best is to hear if there are other people in your area that is getting good speeds. My brother was told there is no coverage at his address, he took a change and he get a good speed. When telkom roam over Voda, leave Telkom and try Afrihost LTE.

If the copper is stolen and they aren't replacing it there isn't much you can do about that.

The replacement they are offering you are likely speed limited and has fair use policies attached.

Telkom Mobile uses various frequencies for LTE so for the best speeds you need to use the correct router.

With Telkom Mobile you can forward ports so gaming should work as expected.

Telkom lte speed vary so much depending where you are. If you getting bad lte on your phone chances are your fixed lte isn't going to be great either.

There is a Telkom tower about 500m away from me, but my Telkom mobile speeds are slow during the day, I logged a fault with them, maybe something in the tower may be faulty... Hopefully it gets sorted out soon

I enquired with the agent regarding FUP as well as speeds and he advised that all current uncapped Adsl users which are forced to migrate to Lte will get a similar type package and the same FUP which applies to my current Adsl package.

Get it in writing because I doubt. I saw the the FUP on some of these packages and they are low. Like 150gb

The FUP is 150gb then it goes to 4mbs and then another 50gb it goes to 2mbs.

My speeds is great as advertised, but the FUP is just not cutting it for me. Hence switching now.

I did get B525 with the deal, which is great it support 4g+. I think they giving Dlink router now, which does not do 4g+.
