Good morning. So I am moving to a new place where I can not port my Telkom adsl line. Nor do I fall in the parameters of the Telkom unlimited wireless offer. I used to have a 10gb (20gb) data package with Afrihost but I'm wondering with there are better value options out there. The minimum data I can live with is 20gb per month but ideally it would be 50gb plus.
Any suggestions of providers I could consider ?
Thanks in advance.
Vodacom, Cell C, MTN or iBurst - and, yes, you will need to pay their fees. It will cost you quite a bit of money, but nothing you can do about it.
Telkom has started the past 6 years in cancelling landlines and ADSL in many, many neighbourhoods across the country. Landlines and ADSL is no longer available in new areas. They only offer wireless access via 8ta in areas where it is available.
So, next time you, or anyone moving, before buying or renting, make sure the area you move to still has Landlines and ADSL, or at least 8ta wireless. The value of properties in areas without it has started dropping significantly over the past year. Buying a property in these areas today will be a bad investment. In about 5 years from now, you will experience at least a 20% drop in value of the property.
Your last alternative will be to live without Internet access.
