So I want to send my iPhone in for repairs. I have backed up my WhatsApp to iCloud.

I have a spare android phone to use whilst waiting for my iPhone to come back.

I don’t need to “use” my iPhone WhatsApp info whilst I’m on the spare phone but will need to refer to it at some point later when I get back to iPhone.

Question 1

Can I just verify the android phone with my number and keep the WhatsApp info on the existing iPhone and iCloud. If they replace my iPhone then I can just restore to the new phone and I’m all good?

Question 2
Does using a clean WhatsApp on another phone not mess up with the backup done on the other phone?

Technically, your iCloud backup can't be overwritten with the android one.. they backup to different places..

Whether WhatsApp does stuff in the background to prevent access to old backups if you switch platforms, is another question all together..

Whenever possible I wipe the information on an iphone before sending it in for repairs since you have to turn off find my iphone and give them the passcode to unlock the phone.

If you get a new phone your chats will be restored - except the ones you have had while on the android phone.

You never need to give them the passcode and you shouldn’t ever.

If they can’t fix it without your passcode then they shouldn’t be working on it.

To answer the OP there is no problem doing exactly what you want to do, you’ll just miss out the new messages received on the other device in between.
