An ANC MP has taken aim at President Cyril Ramaphosa, wanting him to answer to allegations that state funds were used for party campaigns.

Mkhuleko Hlengwa, chair of parliament’s finance watchdog, the standing committee on public accounts (Scopa), confirmed on Sunday that ANC MP Mervyn Dirks would be given a chance to present his case for Ramaphosa to be summoned over alleged misuse of state funds for party work.

Dirks wrote to Hlengwa asking that his committee summon Ramaphosa after a leaked recording of an ANC national executive committee meeting at which the president spoke about the use of state money for certain campaigns in the lead-up to the 2017 ANC elective conference

He should just declare a Commission of Investigation into CR17.

The Zuma faction is laying it on quite thick as of late.
It's a multi-pronged attack from all angles.

It's actually not a bad idea, too much has been said about the CR17 campaign even though it used private funds, nothing much has been said about the other campaign, even though it is now public knowledge that state funds were used.

Maybe it's about time we get a glimpse into that.

So what's stopping him from just flat out lying, and then saying it was taken out of context or some nonsense when it is found to have been a lie later on - like they always do.

So there might definitely be some truth in the voice note recorded where CR said he will fall on the sword before he says anything

This could prove to be some funny as fsck fireworks...

RET could have a bit of a PR nightmare on their hands.

He's already been caught out testifying under oath there were no minutes taken during the time under investigation by the Zondo commission, but then the first documented minutes after that started with them accepting the previous minutes, lol!

Lying like corruption is just part of ANC culture.

It's been 28 years of asking the ANC nicely. It doesn't work.

This "quiz" nonsense is another ploy to pussyfoot.

What 28 years is he talking about? The campaign was in 2017.
Desperate times. We always go back to rosy days of 1994 when life was good for everyone, everything was working, tomatoes were penny a dozen - till the apartheid came in via ANC.

I would like to see similar a "deep-dive" into the NDZ17 campaign, as it feels like a lop-sided scrutiny of the CR.

Before you dream about this, ask: Is Jacob G Zuma in jail?

Needs to be done for all the parties. All or none. I thought there was something in the pipeline already for this ?

What Mervyn Dirks is doing is good for accountability, what I would like to see is if he ever questioned Zuma about such things, because there were many questionable instances.
