Gun free SA will say that this home defender dying would be a small price to pay for the thousands of others that are killed by gun violence.
The victim should have used a vegetable paring knife rather than a gun...
Keeping it fair for everyone....

Nothing to do with the OP, but check this one.

I think this guy would be in a bit of trouble in SA. His life was no longer in danger when he fired on the hijackers, so I suspect he's on the wrong side of the law.

Citation?

Come on, this happen more often nowadays yet, we seldom hear of what you describe.
I don't care much for criminals who fabricate stories after surviving such an ordeal or as in this case their family members who will seek some kind of reparation for their relatives death. It might not always influence the investigation but the constant cries of their own colour eats into their objectivity to fight crime. We see this daily, in how they respond to and fight crime.

It appears to me like you're in the US and not in ZA.

Are you suggesting black police officers treat white victims of crime harshly?

Some good news to end the week.

Would like to have a chat with the oak.

Oak has experience. Learn from others. Note they had an alarm to warn them. That is the first barrier.
Secondly he knew how to react and had his firearm.
Also want to know according to him what he would have done different. Guess with the outcome, not much.

I also wonder and hope he has a second one now to defend while he awaits his one back.

Two less to be robbing the rest of us...Great news...
And if you dont have a gun...Why not....?
You are responsible for your own safety...
Exactly.

There are still aunty gun people living in ignorance.

People complain that the wait is long... then start waiting today. No reason not to start.

Are you oblivious to the fact that SAPS in general is either complicit or complacent in fighting crime. Many South Africans witness this first hand in one way or another, its undeniable and irrefutable the stats speaks volumes.

You see this is not just perception. The Minister himself openly displays racism we've seen this recently, to the point the police officers react without instruction to remove individuals - recently Ian Cameron. You making a grave mistake if you think this behaviour does not cascade in the manner policing is done. Many South Africans are left to fend for themselves as a result of this, as it has corroded the police force to the extent that it impacts everyone.

Yes. I've experienced it first hand.

Yes, the minister is a tool.

This is true. However, I was challenging your previous assertion that white victims are maltreated. Unless I misunderstood.

Or just useless. As noted elsewhere, firearm used for self defence was confiscated and, during the court hearing, the "policeman" with it fired it, killing the prosecutor. I won't go into race issues but maybe a small chance that the perpetrator paid him to do it?
