Mr Price launches freaky-looking NFTs

Earlier this week, Mr Price ran a competition giving away nine non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to its Instagram followers.

Dubbed “NF-Tees”, the collection features a strange-looking animated character doing dance moves while wearing different t-shirt designs.

How sad must your life be when you get excited about wining a "a strange-looking animated character"

As long as the NFTs have real utility and or are attached to something which has value I don't have a problem with it. I am, however, still not sold on the metaverse, because in the end there will be multiple metaverses competing against each other, like current-day ecosystems. There needs to be interoperability.

Mr Price did well here to capitalise early, but they need those NFTs to have real use cases, otherwise it serves as nothing other than wastage.

Not to ignore, that Kadena will displace Ethereum in time. My crystal ball says so. I wouldn't build anything on a blockchain which cannot scale.

Bit late no?
Probably but at least good on them for trying to do something different. I've generally found Mr. Price & Maxed & Home etc. to be decent stores that don't feel stale.

capitalize early?

The metaverse is still an embryo.

MetaLabs said that Mr Price’s “NF-Tees” would take the clothing retailer into the metaverse, with winners able to use the NFTs as metaverse avatars.

Everyone at this time is still early; however, there is no indication at this point in time whether the metaverse will be a success or not, and I still believe that buying plots in some metaverse is ludicrous. As with everything, there will be winners and there will be losers, some metaverses will disappear into the abyss.

The other side to the problem is that NFTs can result in exclusivity clubs, which makes them valuable, but exclude other willing buyers which would have otherwise been enabled by the NFT.

Crypto remains highly speculative, most people see the money and not the utility.

WoW was launched in 2004 and Second Life long before that, the "metaverse" seems to be nothing more then business meetings in Second Life. Maybe slap in a few slot machines for gambling on your customized in game t shirt and there you go

NFTs are such a weird concept. Why would they be worth so much? If nobody wants them, they aren't worth anything. Currently nobody wants them.

As for the "Metaverse" we have had MMOs for decades now. VR MMO's are also a thing. MMO's with actual economies also exist. The "Metaverse" is just.... Well... Its a really dumb concept. Games have done it better and are more immersive. To us gamers Facebook's attempt is just plain arrogant foolishness.

I keep thinking that maybe there is more to both NFTs and The Metaverse. Maybe its not as dumb as it looks and sounds. But no, it keeps getting worse...

scarcity has little to do with value. There are only 3 of my original finger painting works of art life from my days in primary school I dont think they have vale though

I wasn't referring to scarcity but something "unique" it's only worth what someone is willing to pay. Heck this applies to everything.

If no one is willing to pay anything for your jpeg rock it's worthless...
