Can anyone shed some light on the above file extension. All files in my documents folder have a duplicate filename with a .msf extension. e.g. DSL Telkom.txt.msf. All files are duplicated with the extension no matter what type of file it is (.doc, .ini, .html etc)

I have tried googling but cannot pinpoint it as most .msf extensions seem to refer to mailbox files which has no bearing on my documents folder.
I thought it might be the MS file indexing service but these extensions are not on my other PC even with the indexing service activated. Oh, and I have deleted them - they just came back.

Yup, saw that but does not make sense as to why all my documents are copied with an additional zero lenght .msf file.

I ran an antivirus scan but nothing came up. Will change my a/virus and try again - also do a spyware scan.

check your association settings in windows, if in the past you've associated some file with a certain program and the checker box was ticked it will always be associated with that program
