Just an idle wondering, what's the plans now with MTN after 18 May with their pricing? Will 1GB revert back to R400 or what?

It would be kinda nice to know as my bundles tend to run out round about 20th of a month and i'd "kinda" like to plan ahead here....*hint*

Not sure if there's an OFFICIAL statement somewhere [if so please direct me to the new pricing model] , but the website still says

That is if you take out an Extended Data 1GB contract or subscribe to a 1GB Data bundle any time between 18 February and 18 May.

That's 9 days left, not much time left to wonder about it.

I was lead to believe it continues on to compete with vodacoms offering...

But that's the trouble, their current offering is not properly set up to actually compete . For example, MTN currently do not have a 1GB bundle...you are forced to take out 2GB whilst Vodacom got a proper structure.

It's clear MTN's promo is meant to be temporary thing, surely they don't intend to go with a "buy-1GB-get-1GB-free-but-still-more-expensive-than-Vodacom-2GB" model forever? This is pretty confusing in the long run if you ask me, i'm looking for a "1GB = Rx, 2GB = Rx , 500MB = Rx" period. I don't want to buy 1GB and then wonder whether i will get 1GB or 2GB....huh?

I am in the same boat now and I just upgraded the bundle twice in 1 month already.

I'd also like to know about this...
My current 2GB bundle expires on the 19th.. (worked out quite well ;) )..

If the promo is ending then there's no way I'm gonna carry on buying a 1GB bundle.. R399 is waaay to much for 1GB  ...
I'll just drop back to my 350MB bundle again... :( or perhaps to the 500MB bundle..

Anyone have any further news on this?

I just spoke to someone at MTN

If you took out a 24month 2GB data contract ie R470pm... then you will have 2gb for 24 months

If you added a 2gb bundle to ur EXISTING contract, it would have ended on may 18th... but they've extended it to June 18th

Surely they must have the sense to make it permanent??

I will absolutely not be paying R399.00 for only 1GB .. and I will also absolutely not be moving onto contract. In fact if this promo ends the only reason I'll be staying on with MTN and not switching back to VC is because I get HSDPA from MTN and only GPRS from VC..

The best they'll get from me when the promo ends is R250 for the 500MB bundle..

I currently have a MyChoice 75 topup with a 1gb bundle loaded , would it be beneficial for me to cancel the contract and take out a new 24 month one with 2gb of data per month for the 24 months.

Will MTNSP allow me to make this move and whats the penalty.
Can I keep my voice ability on the contract and be allowed to accumulate free minutes or would this be for data only as I currently have voice as well.

And about R400 worth of airtime to use.

Contract should be a year of age now in June 2007.

They would charge you service fees from now til cancellation date plus a handset clawback of R1710.00, do the math and see if this wuld be a viable option for your pocket.

if you must know my history with MTN , then I don't think you'd be so accomadating to them dude , the multitude of problems they have with account stuffups is too much to mention , this is why any addition of services I dread doing with Canal Walk Walk-In Centre as it results in continous phone calls , faxes , emails and pro-rata amounts that I have to sit with ...

When they demand money from you , they throw all sorts of legal and dirty tactics your way as the subscriber , but let them acknowledge that they owe you a credit and heaven forbid it even happens that its credited because they fight tooth and nail to make the customer look like a thief and not give the money back.

Bloody corporates all the same , I try and keep contact as minimal as possible and every single thing one has to do has to get passed to a manager for approval ( and even they tend to do more bad than good )

look, all we know at this stage is that the special was extended so as to give time to implement a more competitive price, cant say at this stage if the pricing will be higher or lower than the existing price ( to me it would mke more sense to keep the curent pricing infrastructure so that our clients can score on this), they keeping mum about it- data dude or Dr data- any further word on this?

Dude , the post is in frustration with regards to your billing department where it takes ages to get anything done but very conveniently MTN will deduct money or send a bill for services rendered.

Why is the reverse not true in terms of passing credit to the customer.

In January this year I had a dispute with billing and regarding calls to MNP port desk for almost R1200 and all I got from Billing was the arrogance of pay your bill or else.

The fact that the MTN provider I gave MTNSP information of who caused the whole mess (nothing was done with the info and I was suckered into paying the bill because if I don't pay then my lines get cut)

So excuse my sarcasm and crap attitude because everytime I follow official channels on MTN's websites and info lines to correct the errors I pickup then diddly squat gets done and I end up paying for the inefficiencies of someone or some department who does'nt follow up on my valid billing queries.

I cant recall how much times from MTN active I send secure messages to i don't know who when I see or query a bill and nothing gets done about it , my account manager changes every month , trying to get hold of them via cellular , sms , email is futile since they tend to reply 60 days later.

This is why I am so full of crap and gatvol , Canal Walk-Walkin does'nt even ask me to rate service anymore because they know of all the stuffups.

Why is it so hard for MTN to get back to a subscriber when there is a valid billing enquiry and why do I have to log complaints on hellopeter.com to get a response.

Is my contact to 808 not enough , do I have to travel to 14th Avenue Roodepoort just to sort out stupid issues that could have been solved properly from the word go if the right persons dealt with the enquiry.

Do I have to know the CEO or CFO just to get service , hell at times MTN is worse than Telkom ( this is why I say I dread dealing with the company over the phone and in person )

Regardless of all that , for the persons on this BB who are employees of said company to be offended by what I say means that there is something seriously wrong with the companies policies , but what do I know , I am just a dumb sucker who overpays his MTN bills by R50 a month just incase there is a hidden charge and mostly on time without fail ( in reality I guess I'm the fool and yet another big firm makes money by making me a sucker and a few others like me )

There are plenty such complaints (valid) on this BB and yet nothing is done about it , yet more billions in profit are posted but nothing is given back , a simple ( we were wrong and will pass credit where it is due ) would be appreciated like I appreciate MTN monthly by paying my bill on time.

Been with the company as a subscriber for 9 years and each month it gets harder and harder to deal with them ...

Feel free to contact me via pm if you want to hear more ...
