Anyone else been getting shocking download speeds on 3G the past couple days?

On Speedtest.net (when it eventually loads) I show around 0.07Mbps download speed, and oddly the upload speed is really good, between 0.5mbps - 1.1Mbps!

I've only been using 3G as my main internet connection for the past 3 days, and day 1 it was going pretty smoothly, since then it's gone to s#$!

I have done a speed test lately, but I do get good speeds. Play games no problem(bf3 online).

I live in the Parow/Plattekloof area and we do not have 3G most days if we are very lucky maybe EDGE. Vodacom same problem, only network that has 3G in our area is Cell C. At work (Mowbray) the same problem with MTN, no 3G I am lucky if I have any reception on MTN through the day. Both place the speeds are very very slow if it even works.

I did phone support last night and they just said everything looks fine their side ...w/e's! They reset my number whatever that means, but didn't notice any difference.

But it seemed to fix itself at some point this afternoon ...getting 2.4mbps dl speeds, and only 0.3mbps upload (but not too worried about that). Holding thumbs that it lasts.

MTN's network is so useless at the moment! In the Bryanston, Douglasdale, Jukskei park area - the network is almost non existent! I have called MTN to complain, they say that they are aware of the problem but they cant say when they will be able to fix them. surely this is against the consumer protection act (I am paying them for a service that they are not delivering)

MTN, the signal quality is just degrading on a daily basis in Sunset Ave in Fourways. What is happening there to address the loads on the towers? EDGE signal is quite good but do not try and broswe the internet on EDGE, you will wait for more than 5 mins for google to load. According to your coverage map I should have 21 mbps 3G?? I am lucky if I get 1 bar on 3G.

MTN must be focussing their resources elsewhere lately, as soon as they see congestion in a specific area they give up :(

I am in Nelspruit and since Monday the network is useless. Tried to report it to the coverage department, but as usual they deny any problem.

Were do we report problems of this kind?

MTN sucks. I tried to download a 52Mb app to my iPad all night. And all night the download failed. I wonder if the idiots are throttling every download - sometimes you are browsing reasonably fast but as soon as you begin a download the speed drops to 2b/s. They are so ****ing dishonest you can't believe a word coming out their asses.

I logged a call with them and they replied that they will be upgrading my local tower from 2G to 3G. I then replied with an image of their coverage map that showed the area has full 3G coverage. The story then changed to uhmm..ahhh...no we are actually building a new tower to accommodate all the users because the current towers are overloaded. Bull****ting seems to be their motto.

They will just argue that it is ALMOST non existent, which means it exists (and that they are delivering the service) but is just not to the user's satisfaction. :erm:

Believe me, they are bloody useless. In some areas there is insanely brilliant coverage/speed, in others there is just enough to sustain a stable connection but with such crappy speeds.
