Did you lose coverage or something?

Yes, for the past few days I only get 3G/HSDPA signal but my download and browsing speeds are like 100kb/s and it disconnects everytime.

Starting to look like Virgin Mobile.

I logged off last night because I couldn't handle the terrible slow speeds. It seems like 3G/HSDPA is not working well in Brackenfell, Cape Town at the moment.

What's up MTN?

I also experienced the slow speeds in parts of Cape Town, but since this afternoon I have good HSDPA speeds once again.

MTN has been having problems accross the board with 3G/HSDPA this is according to 1555. It is advised you switch to using GPRS/Edge for the time being.

I had the problem at work that when my phone switches to the only 3G mast I pick up I cant do anything so I phoned them and the above is the response I got.

I am at home now on the datacard and speed seems fine.

I drove from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth (and back again) the last week, and I had a 3G Motorola on Vodacom with me, and my MTN Nokia N95.

It is really amazing how much more 3G coverage Vodacom has. In the middle of nowhere there was 3G on Vodacom and MTN EDGE.

Then in small towns Vodacom also had the 3G coverage, while MTN still only had EDGE.

MTN only had HSPDA/3G at places like George and PE itself.

Is MTN planning on expanding their network to the extent Vodacom has?
