Since around March/April the MTN 3G reception has been going offline almost every weekend in my area and the Edge connection is so slow that Operamini fails to connect, Whatsapp messages take forever to be received and sent(around 10 minutes or so). The 3G reception would disappear on either Friday or Saturday and if we lucky the 3G would come back on Monday, but most times it would come back on Wednesday or Thursday and then go offline again on Friday/Saturday. I've called in so many times to customer care, but they refuse to send out a techie out here. This has become so frustrating that I'm even considering canceling my contract with MTN. I've been up for an upgrade since February and was thinking of changing my current contract to a data one and get an Ipad on it, but with this constant 3G problem i'm thinking of moving to Cell C.
I live in Lebowakgomo(around 50KM South-East of Polokwane), Limpopo.(24¡ã17'38"S, 29¡ã32'45"E). If there are any MTN reps here, please send out a techie to my area.

I arrived from the UK on Tuesday. Visiting family for 2 weeks. and went to MTN Fourways mall this morning to buy 2Gig data for my iPad. Very helpful dude sorts me out in a few minutes. Drive less than 5 miles to my moms place. No 3G. Flipping EDGE. Sucking the Internet through EDGE. Less than 5 miles of the one the premium centers in the country, if not, the continent and the 3G signal drops out. I have to stand outside in the high veld cold to get 2 little bar strengths of 3G. :(

I really feel for the South African consumer who gets f#####ed over by the telecoms companies.
