Mtn 4g compatability

I have a moto g4 plus xt1644 which i checked before i bought that it was compatible with the mtn 4g band. The phone wont connect to 4g and just connects to the 3g network instead. Did i make a mistake and the phone isnt compatible or does something need to be done to my sim on mtns side?

Have you tested your sim card in a different 4g capable device? Iirc some older sims can't go onto lte network,

Maybe Network mode is limited to 3G and you need to change the mode to include LTE?

Test the sim in a cellphone where the LTE is known to work. If it still does not work, then you are most likely not provisioned properly or outside of LTE coverage.

I live in central joburg. My family members on mtn are connected to 4g. maybe it is the sim. i use afrihost data and they told me that the sim is provisioned. ill just have to get a new sim
