MTN advertising phones that they do not have

I'm helping someone do an upgrade and she's on MTN.
So I check the MTN deals for February, and find the "Samsung Grand Neo Plus" in there.

Irene mall - no stock
Mall @ Reds - no stock
Forrest hill - no stock
Centurion mall, never answers the phone so I drive there to visist both stores - no stock
I then register her on the MTN website to use MTN direct, but there is something wrong since nothing comes up when you search for upgrades:

So eventually we try the store in Potchefstroom and their response is that they have not received any stock of it thus far.

So half of February is gone and none of the stores have stock(but are very willing to sell us a more expensive alternative)?

having similar issue at the moment...
cellular contract with MTN-SP... want to get gold iPhone6 64Gb. (for daughter, i am WP user)
looking at the MTN catalogue, sure enough the gold iPhone6 is advertised.
already weeks after requesting usual MTN-SP franchisee to upgrade, still no iPhone available, and nobody has any idea WHEN or even IF the gold iPhone6 will be available.
so wtf is it MTN... why advertise handsets that you cannot supply, and why no info passed to the franchisees?
(doesnt even need to be GOLD iPhone6 per se... just want the WHITE front faceplate, not BLACK, so can be silver too)
so can the person in charge of these things at MTN get himself back on the job please

It's not just MTN, but Vodacom and 2 years ago Cell c too. All advertised a phone I wanted, but had to wait almost a month for any of them to have it in their stores.
All these Catalogue editors should be shot... lol
