MTN busts scam syndicate

MTN South Africa and branches of law enforcement arrested key individuals involved in a One Time Pin (OTP) scam syndicate this past weekend.

The arrests followed a successful search and seizure warrant on what was believed to be the syndicate's headquarters in Eldorado Park, Soweto.

About time cellular operators get involved. They probably need to clean house as well.

Woohoo. I was getting tired of their phonecalls. It was fun to toy with them... reading out wring otp codes and stuff. But yeah geez.
Wish the banks were cracking down like this on fraud. But I'm sure they got other ideas

We need banks to do the same. Too many scammers around

"MTN said customers can report incidents of fraud to [email protected] or [email protected]. There is also the option of calling 083135 and selecting the fraud desk option."

So while the scam is taking place you can email MTN ?? WTF
Good luck with trying to call them especially on a weekend.
