Hello all...I had a look around but couldn't find an answer to the following,

I have an MTN Anytime 200 contract with a 75Mb data bundle...now I want to know when the 75Mb has been used up does the cost of out of bundle data usage come out of the inclusive airtime or will I get charged separably for it?

Any help would be appreciated...

It comes out of your inclusive airtime.

But you can't use your inclusive airtime to buy a new bundle.

Yea, MTN switched over to Rand value airtime away from "free minutes". This allows you to use your included minutes however you wish. Unfortunately you'd be out of bundle with this, but it is kind of nice, especially if you're not the type who'd phone more than you'll be using your phone's internet (like I do)

I have the same package but my sim is in a old nokia fauture phone, but I only get 10MB a month lol. Got a prepaid vodacom in the smartphone I got with the MTN package, was the best deal for a S2 at the time.

I keep a balance of about R300 on it for emergency use, the rest of the excess airtime I build up every month I donate by sms'ing the shortcodes of two charities.

When i was on MTN, you could use up to 20% maximum of inclusive data, they never enforce it though.
Also, you will get charged OOB rates.

I get R200 of airtime, 25 sms and 10mb of data per month. At start of this billing month I sat on R515 airtime.

So I sms the shortcodes for the Tshwane Place of Safety Association (HELP to 42137 - R30/sms) and Wetnose (Nose to 40131 - R20/sms) for there till I am left with about R300 airtime.

If OUTA still had their shortcode donations in place I'd give them some money too to fight the e-tolls.

Thanks for the info, will do so in future too. It's much easier that way.

Short Codes are possibly the worst way to donate to a cause. That's why OUTA stopped it. They only receive a fraction of the amount the SMS costs.

If that's a fact, I will definitely keep donating by EFT.

Thanks for the info.

So this R200 anytime value... how many MB would you get out of that R200 once your data bundle is used up

This is what I do. I buy a 2gb bundle which is valid for 60 days. If the bundle gets used up before 60 days I just load airtime, because data is calculated at the bundle rate (currently around 19c per mb) and not R2.

This way I only need to load a new bundle every two months and the rest of the time I just load airtime.
