Hi,

I decided to spend my bucks at MTN for data downloads.
For a few months now I had been using VM with a 128K SIM and doing OK, but the new MTN 3 month deal (1 Gig and 1 Gig free for R399) caught my eye.

Luckily for me I have 2 Mycall 100 contracts at Autopage.
So today I phoned them up and asked them to add the data bundle onto my 1 contract.

The lady told me that they don't sell that new data bundle, but could give me 1 Gig only for R499. I wasn't interested.

I have two questions now.

1) Why do Autopage sells the mycall 100 contract, but they don't sell this new offer? Aint they a SP for MTN services? Or is this new data offer for MTN SP only? A follow up question, I saw the advertisement at www.mtn.co.za, I assumed it meant for customers that uses the MTN network?

2) Ok, last question, now I guess I can only go the Prepaid route, buy myself a MTN starter pack which include the 128K SIM. Whats the cost, and how much trouble am I facing to that such a SIM?

*As a side note, the SIMS I got from Autopage where 32K ones. I guess they didn't anticipate my need for 3G data!

Regards.

You can buy the sim for R5 at most shops [CNA/PEP/GAME etc] . There will be nothing on it, so you must then load R400 onto it...i use internet banking, but vouchers should be good too.

Then just call 141 and follow the prompts. -> load data bundles -> load the 1GB bundle.

From there it's the same as with your existing MTN setup [same settings etc]. Pretty easy really.

Then using 141 again you can listen to your balances, you -should- then hear you have 2GB of your 1GB bundle left ;)

Side Note: Using ABSA i need to do 3 transactions to load R400, anyone know of a better way? The max amount i can load "per shot" is R180.

Pretty sure the Nedbank ATM said "any amount from R25 to R1000", but I didn't consider spending R1000 so I didn't pay much attention.

Can anyone confirm if this special is still available - buy 1G for R399 and get 2G.
