Just got off the line with retentions, the lady informed me that there would be more black Friday deals coming out closer to Friday and that it would be a good idea to wait till then.

MTN will be sending customized packages via sms and email, similar to previous years.

I have until the 12th to upgrade so I will see what happens up until Friday.

The package she offered was the 50Gb anytime data + 50min (50gb is not sharable) @R259 and then some other low data package with 150min.
I heard a same thing which is why I'm thinking of holding out until Friday.

Looks like they trying to charge me the non promotion price for this month so an extra R550 even though it was impossible for me to upgrade in time because I failed the credit checks because of the bogus R4970 bill.
Never mind it's been fixed

Thought as much. Another user above also pointed this out. Rather wait till Friday and give them a call. I'm not looking forward to it considering I waited like 45 min back in 2018 to speak to retentions.
In 2018 we received the personalised deals before black friday. I upgraded on the 24th November 2018.

This sounds like the one I got -- it is the "24 months" version of the R199 one (which is 36 months).

Depends what you're happy with. I'm happy with the deal I got and have no intention of waiting in the Black Friday queue for something a bit better...

Hi have also seen deals I would be happy with, but still waiting and hoping for a call back. At least got a mail again today so I think I am on someone's list.

Dial 135, Upgrades and Cancellations, then Cancellations. Waited about 30 minutes but eventually got through.

I sent emails on Friday and still waiting for a call. It's quicker this way...

No you should keep the b315, better signal, better wifi, it is a mifi device, it is a pocket size router with a battery. no lan ports and features pretty limited. Basically entry level router. You don't have much choice, in the matter comes with the router.
Apologies if asked before. Best router with LAN to use for MTN at home?

In terms of the data only deals I honestly can't see them releasing anything better than the R199 80+80 R299 150+150 R499 500+500

The mixed voice and data deals if I recall were the only ones that got some extra deals on Bf itself.

Whatever you can afford, Huawei is actually pretty decent, entry level routers may not be as flexible as the higher end ones, but their WiFi signal and 4g signal is second to none. Latest ones are the b353 and b316 at 1.4k and the b818 at 3.3k on the higher end.

If you are planning on using fixed LTE you will need to check mtn router support and choose from their list, if it isn't on the list you may run into some issues, mtn loves kicking unsupported router from their fixed LTE network.

Every one has their own preferred brand, so best to look at the budget, what you want to do with the router and read reviews with regards to lan speed Wi-Fi speed and finally network speed and what cat the the modem is, the higher the cat, the higher and stable the theoretical speed you will end up with.

Forum users generally love huawei as do I, and can recommend huawei no problem as for the model number I can't say, you would need to choose one based on your needs.
