With new prices having kicked in, For me i would still go vodacom. I am a prepaid bundle subscriber and I like being able to 'top-up' my data bundle once it has run out. I doubt the same can be done on MTN prepaid. I speak under correction of course.

Hi Guys

Just wanted to add my 2c

In the draft there was plans for a 5GB bundle. Prob in the pipeline still.

MTN has identified the biggest user base using between 200 - 500 MB.
That was the target market for this price cuts I assume. The other users of the 1GB and 2GB bundles the prices was then alligned with those of Vodacom.

Once again, MTN can't please everyone all the time ;)

That's because that's all that m ost of them can afford

To buy a bigger than 500 MB bundle when on GPRS is a waste of time and money for me.
And i cannot afford a new phone now.

So i'll agree with you.

They would do better if they wouldn't try to bull**** their customers. Buy 1Gb get 1Gb free, this only shows it was possible to supply the 1Gb service at roughly half the price. But no, keep on charging a lot for 1Gb in the hope that few users will not use the "free" stuff.

Brian Seligmann, Data Bearers and Services Manager at MTN, says that the success of the company’s "buy 1GB get 2GB" promotion proved so popular – in excess of 4,000% on some price plans - that they decided to make the 2GB bundles and price plans permanent. This however necessitated the downward adjustment of other prices.

Seriously, can somebody please educate these alleged business men!

The rest of the world pretty much knows, reduce your price on broadband costs and they, the consumers will come kicking down your door!

Geezus! Farking muppets, everywhere you look! Guavamint, Telkom, blah blah blah! Who don't seem to understand a hair's breadth of how economies of scale really work.

And also, as was said in the first article published on MyAdsl regarding this news, this is hardly a sign of price competition and that by aligning their prices with Vodacom is more likely a sign that MTN does not wish to compete with them on price.

just keep a lookout for special offers from the service providers, u might get even better pricing.
last week we got a E220 modem on MyMeg500 contract special for +-R124pm for one of our traders/fieldsmen, which works out at good rate per meg, if u don't need more than 500Mb.
I've already got the usb HSDPA modem (on package with laptop), but seriously considering this offer, even just for the 500megs, I too don't need more than 500mbs pm

Are you sure about that? 500 MB plus modem for R124 pm? Sounds too good to be true. Where did you get it?
