MTN Broadband - Query

Hi,

I'm new to the Forums.

For strategic purposes I'm going to go with MTN and their new deal.
<3gHSDPA R399 2gig one> Q1. how much would adding on extra gigs be?
can this be done? or is it locked package? ie: after bundles are finished u pay a rand fifty a meg or whatever.

Reasons: I live in Capetown CBD and have been happy with gprs over cellphone service so far. I also believe that over the next three years MTN is only going to get better (far better) than any of the other services with the
money they pumping into the company. Following the news and international deals - expanding markets - they are making are other reasons.

The E220 card supports 3.6Mbps so future increases over the next 3-5yrs will be accounted for, possibly.

Q2. That being said I would like to know if there is going to be an App out
sometime that will let us specify HSDPA only (short of purchasing a
R3500 sierra wireless aircard 850 for the 2100Ghz signal, which is not feasible).
--I noticed that there is another app in development and that buying directional equipment can do it. Appreciate anyone giving out antennae cost? and if it does actually work? and wholesaler that you got it from? thank you to the App developers btw -- you do people wonders.

I don't like iBursts 1mb hardware limit, since it doesn't cater for increases,
just price reduction on caps/shaping possibly.

I will not go through Telkom either because I refuse to pay members of the ANC - specifically people like 'Ivy Matsepe Casaburri' for internet access.
I refuse to fill her belly and feed her family with tripe, pap, undercooked
smileys .. and whatever else she carries in her cooler box for lunch
everyday that contribute to her vitriolic media statements.

<agh!, but aren't we all thankful that we in fact don't look like her!>

Appreciate any feedback, or things I've overlooked
Thanks.

lmfao... what a loaded post....

Just a note 5mb/s coming soon on MTN so the E220 would be your best bet for the moment but as I understand MTN is coming out with some great technology. Before 2010 for instance they would have launched 100mb/s. See My older post "4G"

After hunting through your posts -- found "How long before 4G?"
*sigh*

within found ...

"Good day,

This year you should see HSUPA and then in 2009 you should see Super 3G @100Mbps down and 50Mbps upload speed

MTNDD"

so basically HSUPA whatever that is ... is going to be released this year.

I probably shouldn't bother with the deal then! :( specially if a 5mb card is coming out sometime this year.

I think I'm going to move to Australia

I just can't handle this any longer

Ok... please forget to write!!

Well, you may think its funny that we have to buy a new device/card every year
for R2000 to update.. but a lot of other people don't feel that way.

I was speaking to a female friend in Australia and she has a 8mb line uncapped unshaped for S40 (x5.68) = R227.2 + line rental of R170 = R397.20

And that's not even considering the US.

Your  emoticon tends to suggest that you (i.e. MTN) are blissfully unaware that in many, many countries in the world, broadband (and I mean TRUE broadband) is readily, and inexpensively available.

Surely MTN, and all other "broadband, SA style" providers keep up with international leaps and bounds in the ever-cheaper, ever-faster broadband available to citizens of other countries?
