Hi guys, I haven't been able to open a web site since Thursday lunch time on my MTN connection. Does no-one else have this problem?

I connect using my E620 card, but as soon as I try to open a web site IE cannot find anything to open and eventually says something like "Cannot open search site" - trying to use the MSN search engine.

Setup: E620 card. MTN software. SIM card on MyChoice 100 contract.

OK, just remembered that I updated my Zonelab Suite, but selected "Use existing permissions" options. Will delve quickly, but any advice from the collective wisdom appreciated!

Cheers,
Brendon

Had the same problem Tues & Wed, but it is better now. One thing that i have noticed since i've started using MTN GPRS about 2 months ago is that like tonight again it connects to the internet but then i get that "page can't be displayed" message. Then i have to disconnect and connect sometimes up to 3 times then the web pages opens normally, not like VM that you will wait for another 2 min for a single webpage to open.
I am in the N/Cape area.

Sounds like a DNS or Gateway problem - check the TCP/IP settings

OK, maybe I am spoilt here in Pretoria, but I'm used to 3G and good connections every time. I'm using the MTN connection for work, and this is a real problem!

@bekdik, I've looked under the Control Panel in Win XP at the TCP/IP settings, and it has "Obtain IP address" and "Obtain DNS Server address" both set to automatic for the MTN Fastlink connection. Should this be set otherwise?

Had a quick look at the "MTN Data" technical sticky, but didn't pick it up.

Those sound correct. You can try ipconfig /all from the command line to see what is being allocated to it - this might help MTN helpdesk.
