Hi all,

I would like to know if it would be possible to use a MTN data card (Huwaei E620) to connect to the Vodacom 3G/HSDPA network? What would I need to do so?

Regards,

JJF.

you can but you need to go to the vodacom service provider shop and let them activate all the networks on your card then it should work... note the 3g not the sim

I have had no problem using either my Vodacom HSDPA card on MTN, or my MTN one on Vodacom. But I did hear some cards are now getting network locked.

Would I need the Vodacom 3G application to connect? Where can I find the setup information? Are prepaid cards 3G enabled by default?

Just setup a new profile on the MTN F@st Software
Set the APN to use Static and type internet
On Phone Number set to *99***1#
Enjoy - if you get a signal.....
Prepaid sims have to be activated for data - no hassles

I had the same problem with my MTN Huawei card. Just inserted the VC prepaid sim, and it connected no problem.... BUT... only 3G speeds.
Apparently, since it's not a VC sourced datacard, they don't have record of you being an HSDPA user, so you're only provisioned for 3G.
Vodacom3G helped getting the provision to to HSDPA done, since I'm using a prepaid sim the cost is the same for 3G and HSDPA.

Thanks guys,

I will give it a go over the weekend. 3G speeds does not bother me at this stage, where I live i don't get 3G on the MTN network in any way.

JJF.
