Arrived at store(Standerton) today to port from Vodacom to MTN prepaid. Was told that MTN doesnt port prepaid sims, was amazed that MTN doesnt want my business. Want to make use of the R0.79 a min call rate since I spend about R600-R700 a month on calls and consume +1GB on my phone. Any other way to keep my nr and jump from Vodacom to MTN prepaid. I want to avoid a contract and OOB rate death/plague at all costs.

That's nonsense.. assuming you're on Vodacom prepaid now that should not be any issue.

Buy a prepaid starter pack from checkers for R0.49 and follow the porting instructions - take a read through my porting experience earlier this week first @ http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/613718-Trying-to-port-to-MTN

THANK YOU VERY MUCH! Somehow I missed that article, guess I'm too busy at work.

I have also found a way to enable the cheat!

The Vodacom offer is not permanent and their data expires in 30days and all the promotions gets disabled on that price plan. Vodacom has LTE for prepaid customers.

MTN 79c is permanent. You get free airtime for MTN to MTN calls when you recharge or buy the PAYG bundles. The data bundles are also valid for 60days or unlimited as long as you keep loading a bundle before expiry. MTN has the 50% extra data promo still active. MTN does not have LTE for prepaid customers.

Just mentioning the difference between the 2 networks to you. :D

Yup... Bought this MTN sim back in 1998, MTN did not have ANY competitive edge, the R0.79/min is the first thing since I bought it back in '98 that made we want to port back to MTN... And then vodascum mirrored their offer, no need to port anymore.
