They told me the R10 vouchers were "out of stock", but I could buy a R15 one. What's the deal with this?? These numbers are generated by computer, so how can they run out?
There's quite a "manufacturing" process behind vouchers though. So it's not as easy as generating numbers. "Someone" [i.e. MTN HQ] generates numbers using all kinds of secret algorithms, then they need to allocate a unique number to a specific voucher denomination [R10,R15 etc]. This voucher-number combo is then "distributed" to resellers. Not sure how MTN SA does it, but i know elsewhere in Africa Vouchers are handled like "physical" items [i.e. moved into stock, moved to customer etc]. Even if the voucher ends up being a virtual voucher.
Same thing with Simcards etc. I think MTN can probably determine which store sold which voucher and who eventually used it [cellphone number]...
So i seriously doubt CNA sits with some "keygen" tool and just generates numbers on demand. CNA most probably neglected to "buy stock" ...
