Hi there,

I wanted to ask those who are using MTN fibre how do you actually check your data usage? I have sent an email asking them but they don't seem to reply.
Can anyone advise?

Hi Speed23

There are two ways to check
Option 1 go to https://mycontract.mtn.co.za/landing/landing.htm
The first time you will have to register on the site to use the service.
Option 2 download the mymtn app to your phone and login with your ftth number

But both systems dont work very well I also havent recived a bill for the last two months and have contacted them contless times to reslove the issue with no luck.

Hey thanks for the info.

I tried registering on the mycontract site, it had asked me for my number, so I used my fibre number, got the OTP. Then when trying to log in, it tells me that I am not registered, then if I try to register again, it tells me I am already registered :wtf:
I'll try the app out later to see if that will work.

When you signed up you should have registered a username (cellphone type number 078xxxxxxx) and a password. Use that at https://mycontract.mtn.co.za/ to login, and check bandwidth/get invoices etc.
My ftth username is also a cellphone type number i.e. 278774xxxx@ftth.mtn.co.za with different password, used for PPPoE session on Fibre Router.

Note that MTN changed the 278774xxxx@ftth.. number for some reason at end of September, and have forgotten to add the Bonus data and Night data in October (Bonus Data available to customers signing up before 1st October 2016 only).

I also noticed my nighttime data and bonus data has disappears. I emailed Mtn and all they have done so far is ask me to verify my details for security reasons and they have yet to get back to me since. Have you been able to get your nighttime data back? Also it looks like they have changed their terms and conditions on their month to month contracts for bonus data . Their website now says "Bonus data available until 1st October 2016."

They are also charging me R385.00c for 100GB instead of R185.00c . They just can't seem to get my bill right, I'm not impressed with Mtn's billing department but hopefully other ISP are allowed onto the network soon.

I've got the exact same issues, no view of bonus or night time data available on their portal so I'm having to call support to confirm all the time. Hopefully they fix soon...
Does anyone know when data bundles are reset? I was told 15th of the month which seems strange?

Yeah that's exactly what I did but I am still unable to login, it still tells me that my username is not registered on the site. If I click on 'forgot username' it tells me the exact same username that I am trying to use to login. I think I'll need to give them a call to find out what's going on. The strange thing is that I can log onto the normal MTN website and the MTN store website without any issue at all. It's only the mycontract that doesn't seem to work for me.
Thanks for the info though.

Mine normally resets on the 11th of every month. Not sure if it's the same for everyone.

I am *still* not able to see my bonus data or my "after hours" data on the MTN customer portal - anyone else having this issue?
In addition I got an email from MTN today for another website where I can view my invoices - but that doesn't seem to work properly either....

Really frustrating dealing with these guys and their systems that do not work correctly....

I got my invoice today too and there was an extra charge of R500 odd that should not be on it, it have logged it with them.

I don't know how they can track remaining data, mine has been on 704GB for days and does not drop. I am on 200GB normal + 100GB bonus + nighttime so don't know how it is possible to have 704GB remaining. Maybe it's rolling over.

Anyone ever been capped?

The billing is a disaster i have been connected since May to date i have only received 2 invoices and they are always incorrect.

The data usage tracking is just as bad. the only reliable way to check is to call them. When you get capped your browser opens to a default page to buy more data its only happenend to me once and was easy to top up.

After MTN changed my Ftth number (and everyone elses too!), I didn't get bonus data nor night data, even though I had MTN Ftth installed in April. The call centre said they knew that everyone who signed up before 1st Oct 2016, did not get bonus and night data allocated, and support were working on it. But my data had run out, so I bought 50 GB on credit card, and waiting for them to give bonus data.
After 5 days with my son on holidays the 50 GB ran out, I called call centre and they confirmed the bonus data was still being processed, so I bought another 50 GB on credit card. I called next day and they promised a Goodwill 50GB, or a credit for 1 of my purchases, as data bundles are definitely reset on the 15th.

It is now 20th, I still haven't seen credit nor goodwill 50GB.

Then yesterday received invoice for R 1610 instead of usual R 674 !! Emailed them then received a letter stating
"We have experienced intermittent challenges with the allocation of new line numbers to accounts, which was necessary to improve our service to you. This has led to some of our customers being overcharged. Please note that the new line number will reflect
on your statement. ...Apologies etc etc"

Eish ... is probably my polite way of saying MTN sucks.

I disagree, and have emailed MTN support about this too.

When ftth is capped you get browser saying you exceeded limit, but trying to actually purchase a top-up is near impossible... as your bandwidth is so heavily throttled that the website shop.mtn.co.za times out when logging in, especially because of international website links behind the scene (Google analytics and Ad servers and the like) being even more heavily throttled.

The only way I can buy a top-up is via lousy 3G signal on my smartphone, standing in corner of the garden, and having to remember various usernames and passwords. They should make it EASY to purchase, not impossible.

So i have to retract my previous statment about toping up mtn ftth accounts working well. I hit my data cap and had to call support to get more data as the website wasnt working they couldnt even help me after hours of struggling on there usless website i mangaed to buy more data.

I went to an MTN store on the weekend to see if i could see my actual data balance only to find out they cant help my account has been handed over to legal even though i have a R1200 credit after they stuffed up there billing and over charged me i m really surpised they can even proved my connection as im sure its moments away from falling apart if things carry on this way.

I also see my account no longer show night time data and bounus data almost sure they not giving me that anymore.

I've recently spoken to the call centre(as I am sure the rest of you have) and they literally have no clue when the customer portal issues etc will be sorted out - until then I'm really not sure how we are supposed to see what is going on with our data balances.
Billing also still seems to be an issue as they aren't able to tell me what my correct amount is....

Lol. I was just about to order MTN FTTH, after reading a (probably fake) testimony circulated by a "user" on a Lonehill Residents Association mailing list.

After reading this thread, not so sure. How are the speeds, by the way? Any throttling?

The install process is pretty good (done by contractors) but their backend systems leave much to be desired

What's the service like? International speeds, P2P downloads, throttling etc? How does it compare to a 40Mbps DSL with capped data?

The service works and so far I havent had and issue with the fibre. The billing and data allocation is a desaster had a problem every month.
if I had another choice on provider I would not go with MTN.
Speed tests below internatinal is not great at all
