MTN Fibre - For Tower or for residential?

So noticed a team digging up the pavements. I traced the trench back to the Cell tower and confirmed with one of the contractors it is for MTN. The big question - is it just for the tower or will they offer residential services? Every 30M or so there is a hole like this - see photo.

Why the mini trenches cut across the main trench?

I just don't think that is possible at every 30 meters in a residential area.

So they covered over all the 30m holes so just seems to be to provide extra capacity to the tower. Excitement over!
