MTN fixed-5G network tested - Fantastic speeds

MTN launched its 5G network in South Africa earlier this year, offering customers the option of ultra-fast, low-latency broadband.

The operator rolled out its 5G network for compatible mobile devices, as well as a fixed-5G product for home broadband connections.

At launch, MTN offered three 5G phones to South Africans – the Huawei P40 Pro, Huawei P40, and LG Velvet 5G.

"A fair usage policy of 200GB per month applies to these MTN Unlimited 5G packages."

Wat.
I burn through about 180GB/pm on Rain 19hours unlimited, inspite of their low speeds. How on earth do they expect someone who averages 400mbps to stay under 200GB in a month?

So they don't end up like rain.

Poor rain towers are getting rekt because of abusers.

Alas, 200GB is rather low.
Let me get this right. User pays for service. User uses service. User uses a little too much bandwidth. User is labeled "Abuser"?

Look at the flip side, people go ape and cause the overall speeds to tank.

Which is worse? Throttling for a small percent or poor speeds for a higher percent of people?

Where's the option, "the MNO should provide a better product"?
Not sure why you're making excuses for MTN, Vodacom, and Telkom. They make massive profit on mobile.

Jirre fok. How many times must these scumbags be taken to the ASA? No scruples at all. Unlimited se gat.
Ag shame. ANY moron can understand the plain english, that the first 200gig is unlimited after which it will likely be restricted it isnt like they don't mention the FUP. It isnt uncapped data or unlimited data nor does it imply unlimited data or uncapped data.

It is all in the package name mtn unlimited 5g , not mtn unlimited data 5g.People only see what they want to see, good luck proving it.While they do mention they have unlimited data package they mention in the same breath the applicable FUP and since the data connection will not be stopped it is unlimited.

Disregarding everything else that can be criticized regarding these offerings, nearly 100mb upload on 5G is very impressive.
