Am I the only one having problems accessing international sites with MTN? Local sites are fine but I can't even get into Google internationally.

Had the same problem today, even getting it on my phone with Opera Mini, Gmail etc, as well as on my laptop obviously, international's basically totally dead, getting bursts of around 0.3KB/S but thats it. Maybe its due to congestion during business hours? It was fine last night and early this morning.

Its improved slightly compared to what it was before, at some traffic seems to be getting through, I still can't open international websites though. Any Idea what the problem is?

Sites you're trying to visit, area, cell number and so forth and I'll have MTNNS look and see if there are any problems with our international gateway

Using a Vodacom sim now and I can notice a major difference so its definitely not a problem on my side.

Then it must be something on the MTNNS international gateway side of things but I need more people that are experiencing the same problems so that I can get MTNNS to investigate

If we were having trouble with the international bandwidth from NS, everyone would be having a problem, not just this subscriber. We can rule out his area being a problem because he downloads locally just fine. I suspect there is something on the subscribers side slowing him down.

Uhmm, my point exactly

I agree, but it seems like it is more than one customer having a problem. Any idea where to start looking for the problem if MTN is not at faullt?

How is it possible to be something on the customer side???

Nothing has changed on my side over the last year, only now I have a problem with international sites.
It takes me 5+ Minutes to open Gmail or any other international sites.. Its so slow I get a time out error with any speed test.

Gamco Speed test 121.70kbps
I'm still waiting for speedtest.net to open!

Everybody is bitching about the Telkom international bandwidth that is slow.

If MTN is using the Telkom international link( I guess they do) then that will explain the problem you are having.

Welcome to Africa

and Telkom who monoplizes the whole bloody industry.
