MTN internet unable to download in Google play

MTN data is working as i can surf the net, receive mails, visit you tube, download from samsung apps, HOWEVER in google play once i select to either download or update an app, Google Play states it is downloading, but later fails. I searched the WWW and found a similiar issue with Cell C in May. I recently updated the galaxy tab to Jelly Bean OS.

Can you please tell me which settings u used? I am also strugling even after removing the proxy and port.
