This morning I purchased R10 and 100mb through internet banking and it went out without me using my phone.

The same happened just now. I purchased another R29(100mb) of data and when I checked if it was loaded it said nothing and that my data is depleted! this is impossible however because I barely used my phone!

What the hell is going on!:mad::mad::mad::mad:

WASP subscriptions most likely. So unless you subscribed, someone else messed with your phone. That's why I never let other people handle my phone. You don't know what kind of things they do with it.

Oh wait, it's your data and not your airtime that's vanishing? Just go to your settings and see which apps are the data hogs.

No but it cant be... I loaded 100mb of data and in 4 minutes it was depleted.. something is wrong. no apps are running that could eat all my data. it must be a problem with MTN

Probably an app in the background which is sucking your data up as soon as you get more.

Do you have wifi at home?

Hmm, yes I think your best option would be to go to mtn and top up with 10megs and show them how it just disappears.

It could maybe be a problem how the bank tops up your data / airtime and isn't registering it somehow?

I purchased a voucher at clicks and I can confirm that nothing is eating up my data or airtime. the fault lies with MTN and there is no way of me reaching them. customer services wont answer and the branches are useless and tells me to call CS.. RIDICULOUS!

Absolutely Disgusting!

Data usage from the 23rd... something is up...

Why is this MTN's fault if it's your phone that's using all the data? Just use an app like MyDataManager to monitor and limit your data use.

Large amounts of data can easily be used in a short amount of time if the connection is fast enough. There's no substitute for knowing, and you'll only know if you make use of my suggestion.

Dude listen... its impossible... there is no way it would randomly run out without me using the phone!

Are you mad? Any app can use data in the background. That's why we have apps that can identify such problem apps.

As a matter of fact it is possible. Even if you are not actively using the phone, the phone may be consuming data in the background.
