MTN is South Africa's preferred LTE and 5G provider - beating Vodacom and Telkom

They are the fastest and best coverage network based on my own personal experience.

Centurion: Beats Rain's and Vodacom's 5G any day

Currently, in Bredasdorp (Platteland), WC, not amazing, but very usable for WFH:

In Midrand, I am not so sure. During load-shedding I have to keep my phone (with MTN data SIM) outside the house to get reception. Our other phone has a vodacom data SIM and that works fine inside the house. Could be due to Vodaworld infrastructure very close by.

Just picked up 30GB a month (15/15) for R99pm. Can't find many who beat that.

MTN is extremely area dependant, Durban is great for MTN but Cape Town? Had no signal is most of Tokai.

"Vodacom and Telkom, therefore, outperformed MTN among non-technical people". If you use Vodacom you now know your category, non-technical.

'All' providers are area dependent. Just hope people test their coverage first and not just go by the thread title. Not nice if you take a contract and discover that where you are you have wasted a lot of money.

Exactly this.

We had a testing kit for clients that had Rain, Vodacom, MTN, Telkom that we used and travelling a whopping 100m from one house, it went from Telkom the king of stable at 50mbps to MTN at 210Mbps. Travel again and both die but Vodacom is alright.

Always test, just wish it was easier to do so.
