MTN bombshell — unlimited voice and 10GB data for R299 per month

South Africa’s second-largest mobile network operator has announced MTN SuperFlex, offering unlimited voice minutes and SMS messages with a customisable data allocation from R299 per month.

MTN SuperFlex is an online, SIM-only, month-to-month tariff plan that promises simplicity, customisation, and flexibility.
 
I can just imagine Vodacoms response

DuperFlex
For the same price per month you get
Unlimited calls with unlimited dropped calls
10 extra SMSs
And.....

10GB Data
5GB day
5GB night

Fine print: 36 month auto renew contract
 
Nice!! Will fit my sim only needs perfectly. Can anyone confirm if the minutes can be used on any network, any time, or just MTN to MTN? Thank you.
 
This is a big move by MTN. It signals that it sees data as its big revenue driver and that voice is not much more than a free add-on. It is impressive that one of the big two was the first to disrupt the market. Not sure how Telkom and Cell C will respond.

At some stage they'll mimic how most countries are going with contracts - unlimited voice, unlimited text, unlimited best effort 4g and only charge for data on 5G which is always premium performance. Price is incentivised on number of sim cards - the more you take the cheaper each becomes.
