Strange...I thought the SA taxpayers were in charge of that? Or was that some other king / prince / whatever?

Didn't South Africa lend money to Swaziland a while back?? How much was it?? I'm sure it all went to this trick :(

The South African treasury funds the government of Swaziland, rather than the king's luxury spend

I am a little surprised to see Remgro specifically named but as to MTN I thought this was common knowledge - that both MTN Group and MTN Swaziland pretty much bankroll the oppressive regime that is the Swazi monarchy

Good point.
They enjoyed monopoly in Rwanda too for nearly a decade AFAIK.
There's a reason they are so entrenched in Africa.

Interesting angle. Although I doubt that they will see it like that.

First line of spin needs to come from MTN who must live with the responsibility of their support (direct and indirect) of dictators, and keeping millions in abject poverty.
