I have it on very good authority that MTN are now testing the 2 - way radio system for the network. The same feature that Nextel offer in the USA. You will be able to use your cellphone to chat via PTT.

With push to talk, callers need only push a single button to connect to another cell phone. It happens in less than a second, as with walkie-talkies. Because there's no time spent dialing or making a connection to a network, calls are shorter and less expensive than usual.

Hope MTN prices it affordably . . . unlike vodacom who failed miserably.

Well a 6230i has PTT, so it's not only newer phones that have it. But like bwana says, if the price is right then people will look at it...

PTT is on the TyTn.

Most Windows mobile phones can be tweaked to support it. If they make it affordable, it'll really rock. Unlike video calling, which i never use and find quite pointless.

Isn't somebody developing PTT software for use on all phones?

Will be great, especially when you need to troubleshoot a network and it's on a huge campus.... Just PTT the guy on the other end till the problem's killed :D

Is PTT being offered to consumers as well I'm not exposed to these things anymore - When I was still in P&I we were only looking at this for Corporates?
