Mtn has added 2 new PAYG tariff plans to their current 3.
Listed below is the tariffs you get for a Charge of R1 per day fixed or R30 per month.
Call Rates Peak Standard Off-Peak
MTN to MTN R 1.99 R 1.99 R 1.59
MTN to Telkom R 1.99 R 1.99 R 1.59
MTN to Other R 1.99 R 1.99 R 1.59
Calls charged per second from the first second.
3G-Video Call Rates Peak Standard Off-Peak
MTN to MTN R 3.00 R 3.00 R 3.00
MTN to Vodacom R 3.00 R 3.00 R 3.00
Calls are charged per minute for any part
Messaging Rates Peak Standard Off-Peak
Local SMS R 0.20 R 0.20 R 0.20
Local MMS R 0.90 R 0.90 R 0.90
International SMS R 1.60 R 1.60 R 1.60
I think this is a move in the right direction with interconnection rates of
R1-25 and the peak call rates are slowly dropping so imagine what an interconnection rate of 20c per minute would do for us. What bothers me though is the fact that at R1-25 per interconnect per minute the operator makes a profit of 75c why not have an interconnect rate of 20c per minute and make a profit of R1-00 per minute. Hopefully Ms Tracy Cohen is working hard at seriously dropping the Interconnect rates to pure cost based.
Maybe its time to drop the Bomb on Cell-C & Vodacom now and C what they can do. Porting is easy Buy an MTN sim pack from Pick n Pay and go to your nearest MTN Authorised dealership with your current sim and tell them you want to port to them. Copy of your ID may be required.
